Project Description:
Are you a Windows Engineer with a passion for development, automation, and innovation? Join a forward-thinking team and lead the transformation of our client's shared web hosting platforms. Following recent mergers and acquisitions, the company is looking to unify multiple Windows-based shared hosting platforms into a streamlined, secure, and cohesive environment. This new platform will serve as the foundation for exceptional digital products and services, helping our client deliver better solutions to their customers.
As the Lead Windows System Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in this transformation, bringing your expertise to help unify and standardise operations across multiple European hosting platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Secure Platforms: Lead the design and implementation of secure web hosting platforms that scale across multiple European markets.
- Develop New Features: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative platform features that drive customer success.
- Coordinate Migrations: Plan and execute migrations to ensure a seamless transition to the unified platform.
- Automate Operations: Use your automation skills to streamline platform operations, improving efficiency and reliability.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to the team, offering advice on architecture and technical direction for key projects.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product management to align technical solutions with business goals. Advocate for continuous improvement in development processes and technologies.
- Security Focus: Ensure all development and platform operations adhere to the highest security standards and best practices.
- Troubleshooting & Debugging: Resolve complex technical issues related to IIS, Windows Server, and platform features.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Expert-level Windows System Administration: Strong experience with IIS configuration, management, and security.
- Troubleshooting and Debugging: Advanced troubleshooting and debugging skills across Windows Server environments.
- PowerShell / Automation: Proven expertise in using PowerShell to automate system administration tasks.
- Plesk / Related Technologies: Experience with Plesk or similar technologies (willingness to learn Plesk is a plus).
- Windows Server Management: In-depth knowledge of NTFS permissions, log analysis, and general server management.
- Monitoring and Security: Proficiency in Windows Server monitoring methods and securing server environments.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with experience explaining technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile practices such as Scrum, XP, and Kanban.
Nice to Have Skills:
- MS SQL Server: Configuration, management, and security.
- REST API: Experience with designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Containerization: Familiarity with Docker.
- Elastic Stack: Experience with Elastic Stack technologies.
- Automation Tools: Knowledge of Puppet and/or Ansible.
- Version Control: Experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.
- Programming Languages: Familiarity with C# and Classic ASP is a plus.
