About Us
This website is maintained by John and Elisa M. who reside in New York State with their four children, ages 5,8,9, and 11.
Besides maintaining this website, John and Elisa are the authors of a series of bilingual textbooks about the history of the United States and Mexico. The textbooks are written for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The first textbook is now available on amazon.com, with two more due out by the end of 2008. The series will include 10 books in all.
John has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and a masters degree in Management Science from Clarkson University. After working many years as a Marketing Manager in the telecommunications industry, John worked as a Technical Writer, producing course material and software documentation in the computer industry.
Most recently, John returned to school to obtain New York State teaching certifications in Business, Math, and Technology. After gaining work experience in the classroom, John has three permanent teaching certifications in the New York State public school system.
Elisa is from Aguascalientes, Mexico. She obtained her licence as a travel agent and worked in the hotel industry for many years. Elisa attended college in Dallas, Texas, and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
John and Elisa homeschool their four children. The family also enjoys travel. Recently, the family of six has traveled to Mexico and to Spain.
The idea for the bilingual textbooks came from John's observations as a teacher.
"There is a need for history textbook that reconciles the interactions between Mexico and the United States. Most textbooks cover only the interaction between Europe and the conquest of Mexico or Europe and the colonizing of the United States.
Now, more than ever before, the history of the interaction of the two neighboring countries needs to be understood. What better way to introduce the interactive histories of the two countries than to do it in a parallel English / Spanish format?"
Beginning in the spring of 2008, a series of bilingual textbooks covering the period from the original Americans, i.e. the Mayas, the Aztecs, and the Native Americans, through the end of the twentieth century will be published.
