Wiley Post flies solo around the world
The American aviator Wiley Post returns to Floyd Bennett field in New York, after flying solo around the world in 7 days, 18 hours and 49 minutes.
He was the first aviator who achieved this feat.
Post, immediately recognizable by the patch he wore over his left eye, began the journey on July 15, flying non-stop to Berlin.
After a short break, flew toward the Soviet Union, where he made several stops before returning to North America landing in Alaska, Canada, and finally in New York.
Previously, as part of a team of two, Post had already flown around the world in 1931.
In 1935, tried to fly over the North Pole to the USSR with the American humorist Will Rogers when both died in a plane crash in Alaska.
